- Grade-On Eligibility: The University of Miami Law Review offers walk-on candidacy for first-year students in the top 10% of their class or section.
- Writing Competition: All 1L and 2L students are eligible to participate in the writing competition for consideration of the law reviews, with preference given to students with a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher. However, to be eligible to write on to UMLR, students must be in the top 50% of their class or section.
- Note: You must compete in the 2015 Law Review Writing Competition for candidacy consideration for all journals, unless you ranked in the top 10% of your class or section.
The 2015 Law Review Writing Competition is a week-long competition designed to test participants’ writing, grammar, and editing skills, which are vital to succeeding on a law review. All six of the University of Miami’s law reviews strongly encourage you to participate. Please review the information below, which contains the registration and competition dates, along with other pertinent information.
Registration for the competition opens on Friday, June 26th at 10 a.m. EDT, and will remain open until Thursday, July 2nd at 5:00 p.m. EDT. No late registration will be accepted. Registration materials and instructions will be made available on the Twen webpage. The Twen Course name is “2015 Law Reviews Writing Competition” and it will be made available beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26th.
Eligibility Requirements
The Competition begins on Sunday, July 5th at 10:00 a.m. EDT and ends on Saturday, July 11th at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Announcements will be made by noon, 12:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, July 16th. Additionally, this announcement date will give those who are offered candidacy on a Law Review based on their success in the Competition time to update their resumes before the resumes are sent to Phase I OCI employers on Friday, July 17th.

Transfer Students
Transfer students are welcome to participate in the 2015 Law Review Writing Competition. For transfer students interested in candidacy on UMLR, please refer to our transfer policies. All transfer students interested in candidacy on UMLR must compete in the 2015 Law Review Writing Competition.
