The University of Miami Law Review is now accepting submissions for Caveat, our online companion publication.
Caveat features short essays by law professors, judges, practicing lawyers, and scholars from other disciplines. Submissions may explore new ideas that are unrelated to our print content or comment on legal issues that are of current interest. Further, Caveat offers its contributors an opportunity to respond to articles in our print edition, allowing for quick dissemination of the legal community’s initial impressions of important judicial decisions, legislative developments, and timely legal policy issues.
We prefer submissions of around 3,000 words and cannot accept essays below 2,200 words (excluding footnotes) or over 3,500 words (including footnotes). Selected pieces will undergo an expedited editing process. Caveat is scheduled for publication in November 2025.
All submissions must be sent via email to the Senior Articles Editor in Microsoft Word format by July 28, 2025. The subject line should read “University of Miami Law Review Caveat Submission.” Please include:
(1) a cover letter that indicates what issue the submission is addressing or responding to,
(2) a copy of the manuscript, and
(3) the author’s most recent resume or C.V.
Format requirements: Times New Roman, minimum 12-point font, footnotes (not endnotes), and numbered pages.
Please see our website for previous Caveat issues and additional information. Publication is dependent upon our review of your draft, after which an offer for publication may or may not be extended.
We look forward to reading your work. Thank you for considering the University of Miami Law Review.
